We had the privilege of watching an outstanding Japanese All-Star Wrestling team wrestle in a exhibition dual at Central Catholic on Saturday night. They Japanese wrestlers have been staying with CCHS families for the last couple of days as they tour through California. They attended practice with the CC wrestling team and watched them dual against Gustine before taking the mat. Just watching them warm up was a treat. They were extremely limber and flexible.

They competition was a bit different from the high school wrestling we are familiar with. The Americans represented USA Wrestling and the format was Freestyle. (Different scoring and timing.) In Freestyle, a wrestler wins each period. Best of three wins the match. The Japanese wrestlers won every period, so the match ended after the second period.
