Patrick has been a dear friend to Steel for a very long time.  The best part of their friendship is the fact that I really enjoy Patrick’s company too.  He has a gregarious personality and a laugh that is unforgettable.  Patrick is always happy, congenial and a big tease which means he fits in around here perfectly.  Patrick goes to school in San Luis Obispo now so we don’t get to see him as much as we used to, but he’s home on Spring Break now so it was a treat to visit with him again.  They are headed to the Oakland A’s game tomorrow so they are getting their tail-gate menu prepared tonight.

We were invited to three different weddings this weekend and actually made it to two (ceremony for one and reception for the other) of them which seemed a bit overwhelming when we were trying to plan the day.  This photo is from the wedding of Jon and Dawna Rebiero.  I first met Dawna when she was in kindergarten with my niece.  It seems like yesterday. Since we missed the ceremony, this was our first chance to see her and Jon and we were literally speechless. She was so beautiful and beaming with pure joy and happiness.  What a stunning couple they make.  Just like last week, I was truly moved by the kind words each had for the other.  What a privilege it is to share in these moments.  Jon talked about how he felt when he first saw Dawna at the church.  That’s always my favorite part.  Everyone looks at the bride and I always watch at the groom.

We celebrated with old friends and neighbors and especially enjoyed the company of Dawna’s little brother Patrick who has a special place in our family.

Congratulations to all of the couples this weekend.  Mrs. and Mrs. Jon Rebiero, Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Wright and Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Baballe.

We hosted the CCHS Gridiron Dinner once again this year.  Dinner was delicious New York steaks cooked on site by Amaro and crew… and the rest of dinner (including her famous appetizers) was catered by Mary Alice.  It was great.  We had about 110 people there and the evening was perfect.  We usually host the dinner just before the Hilmar game, but I moved it up for fear of rain.  Just as luck would have it we almost had our first rain of the season, but it held out.  Sierra came home from Chico and attended (her first one) and we had other guests including the Almeida’s and Leroy’s parents.  Dessert were “helmet” cookies from Mari Varni.
